On the concluding day of the two-day national conference organised by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI),Usha Narayan,Executive Director of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI),shared her views regarding the disclosure requirements and the expectations from CA in reporting requirements.

The first interaction of SEBI with CAs at Chandigarh turned lively as the queries of CAs were effectively addressed.

CA Girish Ahuja deliberated on various case laws and decisions of Supreme Court,High Courts,Income Tax Appellate Tribunal on various provisions of Income Tax Act. “A Chartered Accountant cannot advise a client unless he knows the law and various judicial decisions relevant to that law,” he said.

CA Ajay Wadhwa mentioned various provisions of Income Tax relevant to international transactions and spoke on various practical aspects relevant to business in the international taxation scenario.

CA Raman Seth,chairman of Chandigarh branch of ICAI,said understanding of direct taxation plays a major role in business. In the valedictory session,CA Balwinder Singh,member Accounting Standards Board of ICAI,commended the efforts of conference committee of Chandigarh Branch of ICAI for organising the event.
