The states Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau today arrested an executive engineer of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) Pritam Chand while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from an official of a Kala Amb-based industrial unit Rich Gravies.
It was on a complaint of the group about executive engineer asking for a huge bribe for laying a transmission line for the unit from a local sub-station. The vigilance organised a trap under the leadership of Vimut Rajan,an additional superintendent of police. He was arrested red handed in Sirmaur dfistrict and bribe money was seized, said Anurag Garg,deputy inspector general of police,Vigilance,Shimla.
Ill-gotten assets Bill
The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to invite citizens suggestions on proposed law to confiscate properties of corrupt public servants,especially their illegally acquired assets.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal,who had announced in the state assembly in April,said today that the home department has already prepared the draft of the new legislationHP Confiscation of Ill Gotten Assets Bill,2011.

HC notice on postal delay
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the states post master general to file an affidavit detailing the efficiency of the speed post system that was introduced in the state.
A Division Bench comprising,Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice V K Sharma also directed the post master to place on record the number of complaints that have been received over the delay in delivery of articles using the speed post and measures taken to improve the system.
