Home Guard beaten up

A home guard was badly beaten up at the Mansa Devi Complex here during Holi celebrations on Sunday. Gurjinder Singh,who is with the Chandigarh Police,was attacked by around 12 people with knives and baseball bats on Mansa Devi Road in the afternoon. He had gone to the market where a fight broke out over an argument. The assailants were alleged to be in an inebriated condition. After the attack,Singh fell unconscious after which the police shifted him to the Sector 6-based Civil Hospital. Gurjinder Singh’s relatives alleged that Mansa Devi SHO Balwant Singh had forced them to enter into a compromise with the accused. The police are yet to arrest anyone in the case.
