Snug jackets,diverse colours and drapes,leather’s taken a fashionable turn this season

It’s a stylish comeback indeed. Leather in all its glory. Vibrant colours,impressive drapes,chic styling…helping leather shed its biker grunge look is designer Aditi Wasan. For 79 years,the Wasan family has been dishing out leather ensembles and accessories to all of Europe and now they are headed home. “Exports have been our mainstay but the domestic market is so with-it that it’s been hard not to launch a collection on home turf,” the designer smiles to say. Launching her collection of jackets for both men and the women,handbags,shoes,belts in association with the all-designer label Samsaara,Wasan is on a multi-city trip. “I think Chandigarh’s sense of style is very evolved. I am quite impressed,” quipped Aditi whose off-beat colours like green and equally out of the box styling was off the shelves early in the day. “As far as styling goes,leather isn’t just about bulky jackets. The look is structured,it’s a more snug and fitted look that I have given,” explains the designer as we eye the collection on view at the Samsaara store in Taj Chandigarh. Unlike the mundane tan and black,Wasan’s range brings in plums,maroons,beige,green and even metallic hues. “The biker look is softer and to make the drape comfortable we have used leather with stretch fabrics as well,” mentions the designer whose range of shoes in solid colours along with neatly styled bags are eye-catching. “We are also looking to bring in a line of accessories like belts and wallets,” she adds.
