In a unique gesture,students of Hansraj Public School in Sector 6 have adopted Yadavindra Garden in Pinjore and would take care of its upkeep and cleanliness.
Under the project,which has been taken up by the school in collaboration with the Haryana Tourism department,students of the school will work to attract more visitors to the garden.
The project adopted under the guidelines of the Central Board of Secondary Education,New Delhi,would involve students cleaning the garden,creating awareness against littering apart from preparing,documenting and researching on the garden. School principal Jaya Bhardwaj with Anupama Sharma and Nidhi Sood as its general secretary and coordinator,respectively,will be the overall in-charge.
Financial Commissioner (Tourism) Keshni Anand Arora said it was a matter of pride that the young generation has joined hands with the department to do their bit in maintaining the heritage of the country.
I hope that this effort will go a long way and enlighten and inspire others to keep monuments free from defacement, said Arora.
Bhardwaj said: The project has been assigned to a select group of students of Class IX who will periodically visit the site to maintain it. They would also sift through its history to prepare a project report besides conducting research on the subject.
She added that students would hold meetings at the site to make people aware of the importance of the heritage site and create awareness against littering of the garden.
The project would also have an exclusive take on the mango and other fruit gardens and its architectural aspects. It would also explore the commercial aspect of the site as to how the Pinjore Gardens gave new shape to tourism in the country and particularly Haryana, said Bhardwaj.
