Govt doubles medical allowance

The Haryana government has increased the Fixed Medical Allowance for the state government employees,pensioners and family pensioners,from the existing rate of Rs 250 per month to Rs 500 per month with effect from January 1,2009. This was disclosed in a letter issued by the Health Department on Thursday stating all other terms and conditions with regard to the allowance will remain the same. Increase in the allowance will also be admissible to all the employees of the boards,corporations,municipalities,universities,market committees and other autonomous bodies of the state government including the pensioners and family pensioners,the letter said.

Surajkund Mela under vigil

The Surajkund Handicraft Fair area will be kept under constant surveillance with 80 CCTV cameras,eight bullet proof pickets and eight security towers equipped with telescope and hi-tech weapons,said a spokesman of the Police Department. Police officials in civil dress,dog squads,commandos,bullet proof vehicles will ensure security to the visitors. Tight security arrangements will be made for the President,who will inaugurate it.
