The sanitation workers of the GMSH,Sector 16 working on contract in the hospital on Thursday stopped their work for about three hours in the the morning protesting against the suspension of seven employees.
These workers resumed their work only after they were given an assurance by the Director,Health Service that the orders will be revoked.
According to hospital staff,over 120 sanitation workers of the hospital went on a three hour strike abruptly in protest against the suspension of seven employees on charges of dereliction of duties.
Dr Rajiv Vadera,DHS,said,We suspended these workers as they were often found absent from their duties. However their union members have assured us that this would not be repeated in future.
The president of the union Ajay Kumar said,The authorities had been very harsh as we are contractual employees. The officials suddenly terminated the services of seven employees without serving the notice.
