A city-based philanthropic organisation,the Guru Harkrishan Educational Society (GHES),invites applications for award of scholarships to needy and bright students who,during the year 2013-14,will take admission in any vocational/ professional course such as managerial,technical,medical,educational post graduate course and others in any recoganised institution anywhere in the country.

Students who have secured a minimum of 60 per cent marks and whose parental income does not exceed Rs 10,000 per month are eligible to apply.

The applications are to be sent by the students through the head of their respective institution,on the prescribed form available free of cost from the office of the society located in Sector 21. The form can also be obtained by sending a self addressed stamped envelop to the society. Students have to apply latest by September 30.

Honorary Secretary of the society A S Rawel said that last year the society had disbursed a sum of Rs 15.50 lakh to 471 needy students. “This year also the society proposes to award a similar number of scholarships. These scholarships are valued at tuition fee payable by the student plus a minimum of 20 per cent of the tuition fees,subject to maximum of Rs 600 per month amount,” he added.
