Ghai claims U-10 title

Riding high on a fine serve and baseline play,Arnav Ghai emerged as the winner in the boys’ U-10 final with a 5-4,1-4,5-4 win over Sumer Sandhu in the Total Tennis Academy at The British School,Sector 70 on Wednesday.

It was a tough start for Ghai as he claimed the first set with a narrow margin of 5-4 before losing the second set with a 1-4 margin. Ghai then regrouped his energies and clinched the third and final set with a 5-4 margin to lift the title. In the boys’ u-12 final,Paras Mittal ended the challenge of Prabhman Thapar with a 4-2,4-2 win. After claiming the first set with a margin of 4-2,Mittal claimed the second set with an identical margin to seal the title win. It was easy pickings for Anish Goel as he scored a 6-1,6-4 win over Paras Mittal in the boys’ U-14 final to claim the title. Goel claimed the first set with an emphatic margin of 6-1 before claiming the second set with a margin of 6-4. In the boys’ U-16 category,Anish Goel ended the challenge of Prabhman Thapar with a 4-2,4-1 win to book a berth in the final. Goel claimed the first set with a 4-2 margin before claiming the second set with a 4-1 margin. In another semi-final encounter,Aankush Nagpal scored a 5-4,5-4 win over Kashish Sehgal. Nagpal claimed the first set with a narrow margin of 5-4 before claiming the second set with an identical margin. In the girls’ category,Nimrat Walia claimed the title in U-12 category with a 6-1,6-4 win over Prinkle Singh. Walai claimed the first set with a margin of 6-1 before claiming the second set with a 6-4 margin. In the girls’ U-14 category,Nimrat Walia booked her place in the final with a 4-1,4-2 win over Sakshi. Walia claimed the first set with a 4-1 margin before claiming the second set with a margin of 4-2. In the other semi-final encounter,Prinkle Singh ended the challenge of Asmita with a 4-2,4-1 win. Singh claimed the first set with a margin of 4-2 before claiming the second set with a margin of 4-1.
