From Various Angles

Aggarwal is a Saharanpur- based artist who graduated from College of Art,Delhi,and is now pursuing Masters in Chandigarh. Varied elements,vibrant colours and simple forms dominate her oil paintings and acrylics. She is working on a series on road reflectors,so her observations become an integral part of her works. For instance,in City Scape,her childhood make-believe friend — a little girl called Mario — moves in a magical city and experiences its beauty. “My works are based on the different phases of my life and also on Le Corbusier’s hierarchy of road pedestrian network,the horizontal and vertical lines that I have introduced in my works,” she says.

Here from Kerala,Prasad’s works are mostly related to space and time,wherein he considers each work as a search for himself,as a “means to get rid of who I am and where I am and how I am related to my surroundings”.

“I also connect my idealistic world and my surroundings and try to create a new space with orange trees and orange stones,’’ says Prasad. Inspired by philosophers such as Plato,Prasad says his works are an extension of his body,as he paints coconut trees from back home,expressing a feeling of alienation.

Benny VJ is also here from Kerala. “My works are about the relationship between nature and man,and how these two are related to one another. I consider my works as a beginning to understand this wonderful and mystic nature,” he says. Time,connectivity,communication are the themes of his works,which also have shades of fantasy. For instance,in one work,inner organs in jars depict the various experiences of each,with a landscape above each expressing the feelings. “Cactus in my works reflects different situations and feelings that we experience,” he says.
