Fresh EC guidelines for Renuka,Nalagrah polls

Himachal Chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan said on Friday that the Election Commission of India has directed that all electors of Nalagarh and Renuka (SC) Assembly constituencies — who have been issued Electors Photo Identity Cards — will be required to produce the same while exercising their franchise in the November 30 bypolls.

Himachal Chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan said on Friday that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed that all electors of Nalagarh and Renuka (SC) Assembly constituencies — who have been issued Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) — will be required to produce the same while exercising their franchise in the November 30 bypolls.

The identity cards issued by electoral registration officer of another Assembly constituency could also be taken into account while establishing the identity of electors.

“The Commission has also directed that if any elector fails to produce EPIC,they will have to produce alternative photo documents which includes passports,driving licence,income tax identity (PAN) cards,service identity cards issued to its employees by state and central government,PSU,local bodies or public limited companies with photographs,” said Chauhan.
