It’s with a deep sense of pride that Kawaljit Singh,director of the Mohali-based International Institute of Fashion Technology,Mohali (IIFT) meets you. He has all reason for his institute has bagged top spots at the IIFT Annual Awards function held in New Delhi recently. The Mohali wing of IIFT bagged excellence awards for Best Institute,Best Business Development and Best Faculty. The jury judged the institute on areas including academics,environment,culture,faculty members and facilities available for students and staff. Over sixty participants from all across the country were judged for the awards which were conferred by IIFTs CEO and founder RD Lal. Students from the institute too participated in IIFTs annual fashion show GLAMORIA 09.

Another highlight is the Bhagalpur silk counter from Bihar which brings in the best of silk fabrics woven in a variety of shades. Quite like the designs,the prices vary starting as low as Rs 150 a metre. Youll have to mix and match your way here. Those who swear by cotton,specially white and like the way it looks with embroidery,then theres a stall from Calcutta which offers bedspreads,cushion covers and table cloths in the fabric with neat and cheerful work. As far as prices go,you can bag a double bed with pillow covers for Rs 650. Next in line are block printed pre-stitched kurtas,knick-knack curios and an exhaustive range of ready-made curtains,bedspreads and cushion covers in cotton. The exhibition is on till July 20.
