It was part of a month-long campaign that said V-Care. And as a token of their love and respect,around 30,000 school children from about 34 schools across the tricity made postcards and through Yuvsatta,a city-based NGO handed over 7500 of them to to Commander-in-Chief Western Command Lt Gen TK Sapru,PVSM,YSM,ADC for the jawans of Indian Armed Forces. The postcards were handed over to the Army Commander today,following which the same shall be despatched to the jawans posted on border areas. Its an initiative to inculcate spirit of patriotism and love for the nation, says Parmod Sharma,Coordinator,Yuvsatta. The need today is to infuse the youth with a spirit of adventure and love for the nation. And such simple gestures of goodwill postcards can go a long way to boost the moral of soldiers and love for Indian armed forces among young minds, mentioned the Army Commander. Pictures,drawings,letters,stories,conversation….the postcards are vibrant with expression and words of praise for the unsung heroes of our armed forces. The Army School,Kapurthala also participated.
Summer splash
Rubina Sandhu is back in town with her line-up for summer. This time her collection has a range of hand-embroidered,hand-painted,block-printed suits,sarees,kurtis,stoles in fabrics such as chiffon,georgette,crepe and cotton. The entire collection is priced between Rs 800 to Rs 4,000. Sandhu,who comes in from Tarn Taran,runs her own setup and provides employment to over 100 women. The exhibition is on at Hotel Aroma,Room No 103 till Wednesday.
