Its a film by the students,of the students and for the students, says Mitul Dikshit,Director of Dikshant International School,Zirakpur,whose students are busy shooting their first film,Hunar. The film,written,directed and produced by the students,will be screened at the first Ladakh International Film Festival to be held in June.
The storyline revolves around a young boy called Raju,who lives in a slum and is pulled off from school by his parents after Class II. A series of life-altering incidents follow,and Raju gets his wish to return to school. The story,a product of countless brainstorming sessions by the schools filmmaking club students,tracks the development in Rajus character throughout the film.
Shot at the school premises and colony number 5 in Sector 45-46,Hunar has been directed by a Class VII student,Sachin Singla,with Class VI student Hitesh Kashyap playing Raju. The 10-minute film,with a non-linear storyline,has been written by Singla and Nalini Chaudhary,his classmate. The students are being helped by the teachers and guest faculty for filmmaking,Ahmad Khan. Khan,who has worked as a producer with Doordarshan Jalandhar,has been teaching the students the technical aspects of filmmaking.

He’s delivered hits such as Ishqe diyan chotaan,Tere naal has ki lia mundeya and Rus Jayuga Sohna and,with his new album,Punjabi folk singer Gurkirpal Surapuri hopes to add to the feathers in his cap. Called Young Beats,the album is focused at the youth. So,we have a good mix of dance,folk,pop and romantic numbers, says the singer,who has penned three songs in this album. The peppy Munde da dil,directed by Parmod Sharma Rana in Malaysia,is already getting considerable airplay. Saanu aine nahi se tere kolo aas,written by Gurinder Singh,touches the broken heart of a young lover,while Neend na aave rattan nu is about love and sleepless nights,and Jeeyonda rahe bai is full of wishes for a long life. For the footloose youngster,Sudhi Sarabjeet has written the song Mitran. There is a desi dance number too called Ik pass, adds Surapuri.
