Finally,some support for Amarinder from party

Congress MLA from Guru har Sahai,Rana Gurmeet Sodhi,on Friday came out in support of state party president Captain Amarinder Singh who has been receiving flak for the partys poor performance in Assembly polls by appealing to his party to play the role of a responsible Opposition and not wash dirty linen in the public.

We should understand that he (Amarinder) was the only star campaigner for Congress from the state. The bright side is that we could hold onto our overall vote share despite blatant use of money power,control over media,misuse of the official machinery,among other factors through which SAD won the election, said Sodhi.

He added: Our Jat Sikh vote share increased due to Amarinders charisma. However,it is pertinent to mention here that we lost out on our traditional vote share among the Dalits,Hindus,especially the Aggarwal community,Khatri/Arora and non-Jat Sikhs,the reasons for which need to be studied.

Congratulating Parkash Singh Badal on becoming chief minister for fifth time,Sodhi said: I request my colleagues in the Congress and all Congressmen in Punjab that rather than wash our dirty linen in public media,we need to begin introspection on the reasons of our defeat and need to work on a plan for the next five years,which has to begin from today itself. I also request all Congress leaders to maintain a united front to ensure that the workers do not get demoralised in wake of the political vendetta unleashed upon them at the local level.
