“I’ve always been a huge supporter of the game. This is for a good cause and we are here to endorse it,” quipped actor Suniel Shetty, who is the brand ambassador for the sport. Actor Irrfan Khan too mouthed a similar spiel when he landed up with his son Babil, for the match. “The game needs us. I have read about its state of affairs and always wanted to pitch in. I have got a chance now,” he said. Incidentally, his much-talked about film,Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar has the actor playing a sportsman in it.
“In spite of being our national game, hockey is a deprived sport and has fallen into bad time. Back in Mumbai, the club, which has small screen actors like Zulfi Syed,Vikas Sethi,Shawar Ali and several others in it,organises cricket, hockey and soccer matches between television actors and even raises funds for the promotion of several sports.
