Bahujan Samaj Party will be extending support to the Congress in the elections of the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC),to be held on January 23. The councillors will be filing nomination for the election on Thursday.

A total of five members are elected to the F&CC. Elections are held in case there are more than five nominations, which has not happened in many years. Generally, political parties reach a consensus and two members each from the Congress and BJP-SAD alliance are made members apart from one nominated councillor.

The parties held meetings,on Wednesday,to select the councillors who would file nominations. While two members are expected to file nominations from the Congress, the BJP is contemplating nominating three councillors. BJP leadership had been claiming that since they have one councillor more than the Congress, they should have more representation in the committee. In case the party decides to make more than two councillors file nominations, then elections will take place.

From amongst the nominated councillors,Sat Paul Bansal is expected to be made the member of the Finance and Contract Committee.
