Prince Dhawan, Assistant Estate Officer-cum-Sub Divisional Magistrate (Central) said, “These showcause notices are a warning to all schools who have been violating the land allotment scheme. “We have issued the notices to 25 schools today, while 14 schools will also be issued the notices soon as their land allotment details are being collected. It’s not only about these 39 schools in the city, we plan to examine every private aided school,” Prince Dhawan added.

Kamlesh Kumar said the schools were continuing to violate the norms by not admitting the EWS students and submitting excuses that they cannot find enough EWS student for their seats.

* In May, 2015, the Estate Office had issued showcause notices to 19 schools for not admitting children from the Economically Weaker Section as per the Union Territory’s land allotment scheme.
* Out of the 19 schools that were issued notices, only seven submitted replies to the office.
* Some schools had claimed that they did not find EWS children at the time of admission, while some had stated that they are not bound to admit children from the Economically Weaker Section since they did not get the land on concessional rates.
