ETO held for taking bribe

The Vigilance Bureau caught an Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) red-handed while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000. ETO Surinder Singh Rubi was arrested by VB DSP Harpreet Singh Benipal on the directions of VB SSP SS Mand. VB authorities said complainant Sukhwinder Singh Pholriwa,a liquor contactor,complained to the VB that the ETO had demanded Rs 50,000 for issuing a permit for the liquor stock. On Wednesday,when the contractor went to pay the first installment of Rs 30,000,he also informed the VB. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.
