Parents of a 19-year-old youth today met the UT SSP seeking prompt action in a case of assault on their son. Alleging manhandling by the son of a UT DSP,the parents of Angad alleged that their son sustained injuries as he was beaten by the accused. The SSP said he will look into the matter.

Angad,a Class XII student of DAV School, was in his jeep along with his friend when their car collided with a Skoda being driven by Manan, son of UT DSP Vijay Kumar,on Friday. Angad alleged that he was assaulted by Manan in the Sector-7 park.

While the matter was compromised in the Sector-3 police station, the medial examination of Angad confirmed that he had received 11 injuries. The medical examination of the victim was again conducted by the Crime Branch today.

However,SHO of Sector-3 Police Station,Inspector Mahabir Singh said the accident took place but no complaint was lodged as both the parties reached a compromise. UT Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naunihal Singh said he was looking into the matter and if any senior officer is involved in the incident, strict action would be taken against them.

DSP Vijay Kumar, meanwhile, refuted allegations and said that the other party was drunk and his son had not beaten anybody. “All the allegations against my son are false and baseless. The complainant was himself drunk and was driving rashly,” said DSP Vijay Kumar. The medical examination of Angad has also confirmed that he was drunk when the incident took place.
