The ornamental form is of a hardy kind that grows easily in this region. It makes for an excellent potted plant. After a few years,the central shoot emerges with deep pink ananas growing from it. It’s easy to multiply this plant and it can be grown in water too. A tuft of leaves with a base can easily take root when kept in water.

The vegetable plants in my home garden are cutting near the ground level. What could be the reason and how can I prevent this?

No,the plant will not bear flowers now. However,the leaves are also ornamental and the plant can be used to provide shade as well.
