When it comes to American meals, apart from mega-sized burgers and pizzas,it’s donuts that come to mind. Looking to replicate a donut cafe,Superdonuts— a new donut chain has opened shop in Sector 8,Chandigarh. From glazed to filled, rich chocolate to roasted almond, cinnamon chocolate, peanut butter to mango-fillings — there are many donuts to choose from. A clear winner as a dessert station,Superdonuts also offers popular flavours like peppermint, oreo cookies and marshmallows. Fruity options include lemon, strawberry, blueberry and apple. The donuts are baked fresh and can be dunked in chocolate, cream or praline, and glazed with sugary concoctions or honey. Our pick: Oreo Dust,a dark chocolate donut with crushed oreo cookies topping.

Guru Gyan

Soft and mellow, with a hint of romance and soul, and stringed with Sufi chords and elements of reggae, blues and fusion — for musician Ayaz Ul Haroon, the lead vocalist of Delhi-based band Guruz, music has to come from the heart. “And once you are focused on what kind of music you want to produce and play, things work out,” says the 28-year-old,who is in town with his group for a performance at Swagath’s S Lounge and Mainland China’s Satva in Sector 26 for the weekend. Although the band was formed four years ago, actual work began in 2011,when “like-minded” members from diverse backgrounds started performing all over India. “None of us have training in music. We are all self- taught and our own gurus, hence Guruz,” says Haroon, who feels that with gigs and single releases,it is easy to survive. They are out with songs such as Pia,Sakhiyan and Katil online. While they are not looking at Bollywood as of now,the band will soon compile an album.
