‘Doaba ignored by Malwa-based Badals’

The Congress on Tuesday alleged that the Doaba region has been largely ignored by the ruling coalition especially when it comes to allocating the development projects.

The Congress on Tuesday alleged that the Doaba region has been largely ignored by the ruling coalition especially when it comes to allocating the development projects. The Opposition party claimed that most such project land in the Malwa region as the Chief Minister Parakash Kumar Badal hails from the area.

Congress legislator from Bholath,Sukhpal Singh Khaira, through a press release said that all the important projects such as the World Sikh University, medical colleges, engineering colleges and the prestigious IIT have all gone to the Malwa belt, particularly the home district of the Badal family.

Apart from their home district of Mukatsar, other important projects, whether funded by the Centre or the state, have all been set up in the Bathinda Lok Sabha segment, represented by the daughter-in-law of the CM,added Khaira.

:Even now the government plans to open three nursing schools in the state and as per the announcement these are to be set up in Bathinda,Sangrur and Gurdaspur,” Khaira said, adding that one such State Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences has already been opened in the native village of the CM and there was no need of a second such institute in Bathinda.

He said that it is gross discrimination with students of other parts of the state. He demanded that at least one nursing institute should be opened in the Doaba region.
