Designer drapes

The city is fast catching up with the trend of all-in-one multiple designer stores.

The city is fast catching up with the trend of all-in-one multiple designer stores. The latest to open doors is Ajooni in Sector 16,Chandigarh led by city-based fashionista Nameet Kochar. A graduate from the London School of Fashion,Kochar has a degree in fashion marketing and promotion. “There aren’t many one-stop stores that offer a range of designer wear to choose from. I wanted to fill in that gap,” Kochar says.

Though she’s been a part of the London Fashion Week,Kochar chose to come back to India to work. The store houses collections from around ten designers including Nidhi Singh,Shashi Mehta,Ruchi Relan,Seema Bhaskar,Alka Mehra,Charu Chandela and Royal Rajawada, apart from collections of semi-precious jewellery.

For the summer,Kochar is stocking on breezy Lucknowi and cotton suits in block-prints,along with those in summer staples like chiffon, crepe and georgette. In an aim to revive the charm of sarees,Ajooni offers ready-to-wear sarees that come with matching blouses. “We have simplified the process of tying the saree by offering pre-stitched drapes and those styled like skirts,” she adds. To further simplify fashion,Ajooni will be offering the services of a stylist to its clients. “Fashion is no longer about following trends blindly. It is imperative to have your own style and wear what suits you best,” Kochar sums up.
