Dera Sacha Sauda chief to appear before court on Oct 22

Haryana Police submitted before the high court that owing to navratri and a mela to be organised in Mansa Devi temple,there will be law and order problem

Slated to appear on October 5 before a special CBI Court Panchkula,Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh will now appear only after October 22.

The Haryana Police on Monday submitted before the high court that owing to navratars and a mela to be held in Mansa Devi temple,there will be law and order

disorder if the Dera chief appears in the Panchkula Court on October 5. Deferring his appearance,the high court

on Monday issued notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for October 22.

The high court made it clear that the Dera chief will appear only after October 22 and the date of his appearance will be decided by the special CBI Judge of Panchkula. The directions were passed on Monday during the resumed hearing of a petition filed by Haryana Police.

The Dera chief has been accused of raping ‘sadhvis’ inside the sect’s sprawling campus near Sirsa in 2002. On the directions of high court,the CBI had registered the case on September 24,2002. Besides rape charges,Gurmeet also faces two cases of murder.

Dera chief had been,in the past,appearing through video conferencing.
