With the conclusion of the formal election campaign for the Dasuya by-elections last evening, political leaders have been busy paying personal visits and making phone calls to be in touch with their prospective voters until the last minute before they cast their votes. Also they were keeping eye on each others activities too.

Some local leaders from the Congress have been paying personal visits to their supporters. Congress candidate Arun ‘Mickey’ Dogra paid various such visits in the Talwara area of his constituency,an area which the Congress feels will fetch it a large number of votes.

The leaders are also keeping a wary eye on each other. Vikas Sharma,a close confidante of Dogra, complained to the election observer that several outsiders from the SAD-BJP have been moving in the constituency.

“We have requested the election observer to send the outsider leaders of SAD-BJP out of the constituency before the elections to avoid any rigging. Outsiders may commit violence during elections at the booths,” said Sharma.

BJP leaders also paid personal visits to people in their respective areas without their supporters.

“We have done our homework, the ball is in the people’s court now,” said some SAD leaders.

Flag march

Security forces conducted a flag march in Dasuya on Tuesday. There are a total of 192 polling booths in the constituency, including 78 sensitive and two hyper-sensitive booths. Both hyper sensitive booths are located in Ghogra village.
