The audience cried foul over the needless beeps and censor cuts when The Social Network released in India last year. This year,David Fincher’s next directorial venture,The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,is facing the Indian Censor Board’s ire. The release date of the film,a screen adaptation of the popular book by the same name, has been postponed from January 6 to February 10. The movie released internationally in the last week of December and has received rave reviews.

Sony Pictures, which is releasing the film in India, concedes that the film is yet to receive a censor certificate, but refuses to divulge more.

However,a source who did not wish to be named, added that the film’s controversial subject and content — with scenes that tend heavily towards violence and sex — needs a fresh cut for the Indian market. “The cut is ready. However,Sony is waiting for approval from the Hollywood office and the director, which is taking time since they were on holiday for the festive season,” the source said.
