Custody of 3 held for dowry death extended

The three persons booked and arrested in the dowry-related death of a 24-year-old woman in Kharar were remanded to one more day of police custody on Wednesday.

The three persons booked and arrested in the dowry-related death of a 24-year-old woman in Kharar were remanded to one more day of police custody on Wednesday. The accused – Kuldeep Singh,Mahinder Singh and Malkeet Kaur – husband and in-laws of the victim,were arrested on Monday after Tejinder Kaur (24) was found dead in her house in Bhukri colony in Kharar. She had allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison.

According to the police,all three accused were booked for dowry death under section 304B of the IPC on the complaint of Avtar Singh,brother of the deceased.

He alleged that his sister was being constantly harassed for dowry by her in-laws,forcing her to end her life.

The post-mortem report of the victim remained unclear about the cause of death.
