It’s been four years since Bournvita Quiz Contest (BQC) was last aired on the national network. Come August 14,the much anticipated quiz show returns to telly this time on Indias leading General Entertainment Channel (GEC) Colors. In fact,the show is back on air owing to a huge public demand.
Its the result of a hugely popular online movement on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/bringbqcback and various blog sites,where people expressed their support for BQC.
The format of the show has been realigned to showcase some interesting and exciting twists blending entertainment and education. We are excited with the exceptional response received on Facebook to bring back BQC, says Narayan Sundararaman,Director for Powdered Beverages,Gum & Candy,Cadbury India,the title sponsors.
This time,BQC will also offer audiences a chance to feature on the show as part of the Main Bhi Quizmaster segment. People are invited to post their videos on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/bournvitaquizcontest and one lucky winner in each episode gets a chance to be a guest quizmaster.
The Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest started out in 1972 as a live quiz show held across India and has since been the countrys longest running quiz show. It then moved to radio,before being picked up in the Nineties by channels such as Zee TV and Sony for a TV version. The original hosts of the live show were Hamid Sayani and later,his brother Ameen Sayani. But BQCs most popular host has been Derek OBrien,who has since authored several quiz books as well.
