It was to be another buy for Hoshiarpur-based bookstore owner Anil Kumar as he brought home the family’s groceries from the neighbourhood store. It was only when he opened the Brooke Bond Taj Mahal tea packet that he realised this was to be no ordinary purchase. “There was a golden foil that read I had won a cup made out of 22 carat gold,” reminisces Kumar who was formally handed over a golden cup by Brooke Bond at a ceremony held in the city on Thursday. The prized cup comes as a part of Brooke Bond’s ‘100 crore consumers’ celebration. “Anil Kumar is our first winner from Punjab. The cup has been specially made by jewellery brand Geentanjali using 22 carat gold. It weighs 82 gms,” informed R S Verma,a company representative as he added,”The campaign is part of Brooke Bond’s initiative to celebrate the ‘special bond’ with its consumers for their brand loyalty.” An overjoyed Anil Kumar who arrived with his wife and children,remarked,”My family has been consuming the Brooke Bond range of teas for many years now. It has been a part of my morning ritual for years. I am extremely happy and excited about the gold cup that has been presented to me.” In all the company will be dishing out 60 gold cups to lucky consumers across the country.
