The SAD today lodged a complaint with the ECI seeking action against Parneet Kaur and Capt Amarinder Singh,Chairman,Congress Campaign Committee,for alleged violation of modal code of conduct. The SAD secretary,Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said that Parneet Kaur,the Patiala nominee,had entered the office of returning officer,Patiala,for filling her nomination papers along with more than 50 persons in violation of code of conduct. The ECs instructions say maximum number of persons allowed to enter the office of RO at the time of filling nomination shall be four besides the candidate and the proposers.

… SAD against PreneetChandigarh: The Congress in Punjab on Friday alleged that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from Bathinda,Harsimrat Kaur,wife of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,is indulging in threatening and intimidation of voters and demanded that a case be registered against her. She had issued threats to the effect that whosoever supports the Congress party candidate shall face dire consequences,Punjab Congress Campaign Committee coordinator C D Singh Kamboj charged in a complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner. On April 16 Harsimrat Kaur,while holding her election meetings at Bhucho Khurd,Bhucho Kalan,Lehra Mohabbat and other villages openly declared that lavish grants will be showered by the government in the state to those villages where no polling booths of Congress candidate will be set up,the petition charged.
