The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a travel agent and an airline to pay Rs 10,000 each to two complainants for failure to inform about cancellation of a flight to Toronto.

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a travel agent and an airline to pay Rs 10,000 each to two complainants for failure to inform about cancellation of a flight to Toronto.

Joginder Singh Toor and wife Manjit Kaur had booked tickets through Khanna Enterprises from Delhi to Toronto on Aero Svit Airlines for December 14,2008. The complainants alleged that when they visited the New Delhi airport on December 14,they were informed by the airline staff that the flight had been cancelled many days ago and that they had conveyed it to Khanna Enterprises. The complainants added that rescheduling of the flight was done for December 16,which did not suit them.

The forum also directed the airline and the travel agency to pay Rs 5,000 as cost of litigation to each of the complainants.
