Here’s something to look forward to. The Durga Das Foundation is set to bring to the city ‘Brief Candle’,an English play by the renowned and celebrated duo of Mahesh Dattani and Lillete Dubey. ‘Brief Candle’ has a stellar cast of Amar Talwar,Suchitra Pillai,Joy Sengupta,Zafar Karachiwala,Satchit Puranik and Manasi Parekh. A 90-minute production,it is a dark-comedy about love, life and death. A farce which has some light humour,‘Brief Candle’ is set in a hospital and hospice for cancer and the terminally ill. Through a play that the inmates put up for the hospital’s cultural event, they find the dead playwright’s presence steering the rehearsals and comic situations developing,as issues related to life and death get reflected upon. A poignant and humorous play,it promises to leave you misty eyed at the end as you connect with the characters and their dilemmas. The play is scheduled for October 27 at the Tagore Theatre and is sponsored by HDFC Home Loans,First City Infratech and Laxmi Energy and Foods Ltd. Entry is by invitation only.
