AIESEC members from across the world unite to implement developmental projects in the city

We are giving out a call to the youth to extend a hand,to reach out and be the change they want to see,” says Siddhant Choudhary,vice-president,Communications,Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (AIESEC),as he introduces Impact India,a project that will see AIESEC members,including 150 international interns getting together to work for the country. “Assisted by NGOs from the city and students of various colleges,we will work on various issues including education,HIV/AIDS,rural and community development,child right and environment,” says Sahil Dewan,president,AIESEC. Interns will also be groomed in life skills,soft skills and professionalism,he adds.

Impact India incorporates various development projects like Project Pragati,Project Genesis and Project Footprints. “Project Pragati will look at rural and community development and for this,we have joined hands with EduCARE,Commonwealth Youth Programme,Developing Indigenous Resources and Arrive Safe— Road Safety. In Project Genesis,we fight against HIV/AIDS and plan to meet and interact with the High Risk Group and sex workers,” says Sanyam Abhilashi Tayal,vice-president,AIESEC’s Development sector. “A documentary on the NGOs working in the area is in the pipeline,” says Ishan Saxena,vice-president,Projects. AIESEC is also currently working with Voluntary Health Association of Punjab,Haryana AIDS Control Society and Society for Service to Voluntary Agencies.

In Project Footprints,the focus is on various issues faced by the children today. “While we will hold a learning network day,the discussions will be carried on virtually on http://www.aiesec.net and other AIESEC forums,” says Saxena. The organisation is also coordinating with the Society for the Care of Blind,Sadhna Society for Mentally Challenged,Indian National Portage Association and Youth Technical and Training Society.
