‘Sit-ins’ — new fad on PU campus

After the recent incidents at Panjab University (PU),where two faculty members had to face the music due to internal politics under the garb of complaints and agitations by students, not only the teachers are living in fear as to who will be the next target, but jokes are also being cracked and shared on the deteriorating condition of PU. Blaming it on weak administration, the faculty members have started calling the vice-chancellor’s office the “doorsteps to a temple”,where every wish of the students get fulfilled once they sit on a dharna.

Neglected councillors

The Municipal Corporation councillors often find themselves “neglected”. The latest controversy over not receiving invites to the Rose Festival on time has the councillors fuming. What has added to their woes is that the Mayor was present not only at the inaugural function in the morning but also at the cultural evening. While a proposal to give additional invitation cards to the councillors had earlier been turned down, they even failed to receive their own cards on time.

The frequent surprise visits by the new Chief Justice,Ranjan Gogoi, has every court employee on his toes. Cop frightens child actor

After succeeding in fooling his parents as well as the police with his concocted abduction story,a child actor got frightened when a senior police officer told him that she would visit his school the next day to investigate the matter. “Will you talk to my teacher” was the instant query of the 10-year-old Class V student, who had acted in the recent Hindi flick Yamla Pagla Deewana. “Yes,I will speak not only to the teacher but also your principal,” the DSP-rank officer had told the child. Immediately realising his sin,he confessed before his class teacher even before the police managed to reach his school the next day.
