CLTA lad Rajput surges ahead

Playing controlled game,CLTA trainee Krishna Rajput stormed into the final qualifying round with an 8-5 win over seventh seed Nasir Malik in the men's singles category in the CLTA AITA Open Tennis tournament being played at CLTA on Saturday.

Playing controlled game,CLTA trainee Krishna Rajput stormed into the final qualifying round with an 8-5 win over seventh seed Nasir Malik in the men’s singles category in the CLTA AITA Open Tennis tournament being played at CLTA on Saturday. It was a spirited performance by the CLTA lad as he emerged the winner in a close encounter.

Joining him in the third round will be another CHART trainee Vikrant Dahiya who ended the challenge of Mayank Sharma with a 8-4 win. Dahiya eased past Sharma in a match which lasted more than 30 minutes.

In another match in the men’s singles category,Arvind Singh scored an easy 8-3 win over Sandeep Singhh while Sashil Sachdeva edged out Ravinder with a narrow 8-6 win to book a place in the third round. It was easy going for Ashish who blanked Ankit Singh 8-0 to enter the third round. In another match of the same category,Mandeep scored an 8-1 win over Vishal Gaur to stay in the hunt while Bhart Bhardwaj blanked Manjot Singh 8-0.

Utilising his big serve,Rishabh Sharda scored an easy 8-0 win over Amarjyoti Deka to book a berth in the third round while Jagtar whitewashed Sumit Bansal with an 8-0 win. It was a day of big servers as Yuvraj edged past Vikas Saini with a narrow 8-7 win to stay afloat in the championship while Dhruv Goel scored a 8-4 win over Saransh Bhatia to move into the third round.

In another match of the day,Shikhar Gadh rallies to an easy 8-3 win over Gurvinder Singh while Ajay Yashpaul scored an 8-4 win over Ishpreet to advance into the third qualifying round.
