Cleanliness drive held at Sector 31

A Cleanliness-cum-awareness drive was flagged off at Sector 31 under the partnership initiative programme to spread the message of maintaining proper sanitation in the area.

Carrying placards,safaikaramcharis of the Sanitation wing of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation took out the rally asking people to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness.

They asked people not to litter on streets and open spaces and stressed on disposing of garbage at garbage containers placed by the corporation.

Resident associations were also requested to motivate locals to carry out such campaigns in their areas to take up the cleanliness work on war footing.

On their part,locals vowed to adhere to the norms laid down for disposing of waste and to ensure cleanliness of the sector. They also pledged not to allow others litter the area.

Information Education and Communication (IEC) activities are being undertaken by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation under the partnership initiative programme with special emphasis on children in order to bring a change in public behaviour.
