Panchkula man kidnapped,set on fire

PANCHKULA: A resident of Sector 21 here was allegedly kidnapped and then set on fire. Gaurav,a resident of Maheshpur village,was allegedly kidnapped from Sector 22 of Chandigarh,by a few people,Panchkula police said. The police say he was beaten and then taken to a Basola village in Pinjore. The kidnappers then allegedly sprinkled oil on him and set him on fire. Villagers immediately informed the Pinjore police.The police took the youth to General Hospital of Sector 6,Panchkula. Doctors said the youth has 65 per cent burns. He was referred to PGIMER.We want to get the statement of Gaurav recorded before the magistrate. Only after that further action will be taken. At this moment the identity of kidnappers is not known, SHO of Pinjore police station Pradeep Kumar said.

One-yr-old drowns in tub

ZIRAKPUR: A one-year-old baby girl drowned in a tub at her home on Thursday,police said. Zirakpur Station House Officer Yogi Raj said Khushi,daughter of Sushil Kumar,a resident of Skynet Towers,Zirakpur,was playing along with her three-year-old sister in a water tub at her home on Thursday noon when the incident happened. Her mother was in the kitchen. Khushis parents saw her lying unconscious in the tub and rushed her to JP Hospital from where she referred to GMCH-32. But doctors at GMCH-32 declared her brought dead.
