Chiraz’s bid to win twin crowns ended when he lost the u-12 final. However,he still has the chance to win the u-14 title. While he ended up on the winning note in the semi-final encounter to make it to the final in u-14 category,then he was at the receiving end in the final of boy’s u-12 category,losing to Udayveer in the Manav Mangal Total Tennis Championship at Manav Mangal Smart School on Tuesday.

Chiraz got off to a good start in the u-14 semi-final encounter and easily took the first set 6-1. However,Puru Mehta,his opponent,made a good comeback and won the second set with the same margin to take the match into the third set. Here,Chiraz proved his mettle by playing some superb shots from the baseline to win the final set 4-2 to enter the final.

However,he was not lucky in the u-12 final. Losing the first set to Udayveer cost him dear as Chiraz was seen huffing and puffing through his way to make a comeback into the match. He did so in style,winning the second set 4-1. As the match progressed into the third set,both the players were locked in a tussle of long rallies and powerful forehands. Udayveer,however,had the last laugh as he won the set 7-5 to lay his hands on the title.

Meanwhile,in the girl’s section,Naemat Aulakh had an easy outing as she trounced Arshna 6-3 and stormed into the final of the girl’s u-18 category. She will face Ashmita in the final who defeated Adita 6-4.

In the girl’s u-12,Mansi beat Shreen 6-4 while Smera outplayed Adita 6-3 to enter the final.
