Cheema caveat for censor board

Cheema said it is the duty of Censor Board to issue certificates only to films that fulfill its parameters.

Referring to the movie Sukha-Jinda, which reportedly proposes to portray the two assassins of former Army Chief General AS Vaidya as heroes, Punjab Education Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema said the Central Board of Film Certification should keep a check on issuing certification to such films.

Sunil Jakhar, Congress Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, said that makers of such movies, who wanted to cash in on incidents such as assassinations, must be socially boycotted. Both leaders were here to participate in a function of the Shaheed Parivar Fund function.

Talking to reporters, Dr Cheema said it is the duty of the Censor Board to issue certificates only to those films that fulfill its parameters. It was recently that Kaum De Heere, a movie portraying the assassins of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was banned from release in India in order to avoid incidents of communal tension.
