A Chandigarh student was arrested by the Punjab Police on charges of drug peddling and allegedly possessing two grams of cocaine.
Investigation Officer Sub-Inspector Dalip Singh said Ashish Kumar Thakur,in his early 20s,had supplied the contraband to customers before he was caught from a petrol pump in Phase 3-A on Friday evening.
A resident of Kullu,Himachal Pradesh,the accused was allegedly involved in drug peddling in Chandigarh and Mohali,the IO said. In Chandigarh,Thakur had been staying in a hostel in Sector 36.
A case under Sections 21,61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been lodged against him. On Saturday,a local court remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.
