Chandigarh ruined by haphazard development

Naib Singh,Panch of Makhanmajra,said despite the assurance by the then rural development minister during the meeting of Chandigarh farmers in Delhi,the state of affairs in Chandigarh had not improved and the farmers were continuously divested of their property to satisfy the greed of the real estate sharks. The directions of the Union Government is openly violated by Rodrigues and his cronies,he said.

Brigadier Kuldeep Singh Kahlon,the president of Sanjha Morcha said,“The Chandigarh Administration has ruined the city by unplanned and haphazard projects in the name of development. This will render the city unliveable in another five years. Due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Administration,the city has started facing acute problems like long traffic jams,parking problem,law and order problems,drug menace,alcoholism etc.”

Social activist Hemant Goswami said,“When the Home Ministry and the CVC are prima facie satisfied that a serious fraud of such a big magnitude involving thousands of crores has taken place in Chandigarh,there was no reason for the Union Government to slow peddle the investigation. An FIR should immediately be registered and all people who are named in the complaints,including the Administrator and the bureaucrats involved should be arrested. The high-ranking officials have already started destroying the evidence and influencing the key witnesses of the scam.”

Brigadier Harwant Singh,the chief co-ordinator of Indian Ex-Serviceman Movement echoed similar sentiments and said,“In Chandigarh there is no governance,rather it is like typical jungle raj. The Administration is so vindictive and intolerant to any opposition that they abuse all official machinery to harass and trouble in all possible ways anyone who challenges them. They even slap false criminal cases on anyone who dares to oppose.”
