Campaigning over,vocal cords get much needed break

It was a much needed rest for the vocal cords of PPP chief Manpreet Badal who is scheduled to undergo a surgery in his throat on February 1.

It was a much needed rest for the vocal cords of PPP chief Manpreet Badal who is scheduled to undergo a surgery in his throat on February 1. Manpreet’s throat was choked completely last night and for the past week he has been on a heavy dose of antibiotics and steroids. Though Manpreet was busy in making arrangements for polling booths,agents,among others,his throat received a much needed rest. “ His voice is completely husky and we will be going to Delhi on January 31 for the surgery which needed about 10 days complete rest to vocal cords,” said his wife Veenu Badal.

With campaigning coming to an end,like Manpreet many politician’s throats are enjoying a much needed break.

Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal is relieved from hour-long speeches,but says his throat is fine. “When you are in high spirits,the throat also works well,” he said. His media advisor Charanjeet Brar’s throat,however, has been choked completely. “ It happened yesterday itself and I had to shorten my speech at the Gidderbaha rally. Otherwise,during campaign,it worked well”,Brar said.

The Congress candidate from Khanna,Gurkirat Kotli is another whose vocal cords took a hit while campaigning. “I inhale steam,and am on an antibiotic dose and I drink plenty of warm water. So today it was a much needed relief to the throat,though lot of work is still to be done”.

Hira Singh Gabria,SAD candidate from Atam Nagar constituency of Ludhiana says warm water and mishri helped his throat stay the campaigning distance. “My throat is in good condition. It is not for the first time that I am contesting elections. So I know all the ways to keep myself fit. I used to drink mulethi tea twice a day as well So everything helped “,Gabria says.

His rival Simarjeet Singh Bains an Independent was also on plenty of warm water throughout. “My throat is in perfect health. I am upbeat for a massive victory”. Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon,another SAD candidate from Sahnewal,however,gargled his throat with salted warm water twice a day.

Gidderbaha candidate of Congress Amarinder Raja Warring said; “No doubt was feeling little bit of itching in the throat,but not having much trouble. However after giving speeches for more than 12 hours in a day,definitely I am feeling much relieved as the vocal cords are relaxing after days together.”

Prem Mittal,SAD candidate from Mansa,was seen attending his phone calls himself while earlier,his phone used to be with his PA. Mittal said: “Today,the work is only for polling booths and other duties. So,I am personally talking to the people. I used to start my day with a class of warm water and honey and the same used to be at the evening as well. So,it worked well.”
