The Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday approved the amended draft of Punjab Private Universities Policy-2010 to establish self-financed private universities in the state. It also authorised the chief minister to make suitable amendments in this policy in future as per requirements.
The approved draft bill will lead to the setting up of the self-financing private university by the name of Guru Kashi University in Bathinda districts Talwandi Sabo by Balaji Educational Trust (Regd). The said university will have provisions higher education including professional,medical,technical,general education,religious,language and literature.
Other decisions
Approval for admission to the remaining 1,488 AIE volunteers for ETT course in various District Institutes of Elementary Training (DIETs) during the 2011-13 academic session.
Ex-post facto approval to transfer the teachers to the education department from schools under the administrative control of Rural Development department and Zila Parishads by amending the Punjab State Education Class-III (Primary School Cadre) Service Rules-1997.
Approved the filling up of 3,669 vacancies against the 4,069 newly created posts in the health department. While 3,208 posts,including 1,188 medical officers,1,647 paramedical staff and 373 ministerial cadre will be filled through direct recruitment,the remaining 404 posts,including 324 safai sewaks,20 cook-cum-helpers and 60 security personnel will be outsourced. The Cabinet also approved the recruitment of 27 posts of medical/paramedical staff in the jail department.
Go ahead to the recruitment of requisite staff for the newly set up four units of NCC comprising boys and girls battalions in the NCC Academies at Ropar and Malout respectively,Remount and Veterinary (R&V) squadron NCC in Guddha and 3 Punjab Navel Unit NCC in Bathinda.
Green signal to the transfer the land and buildings of cooperative sugar mills in Budhlada and Jagraon so that these properties could be disposed of by the Punjab Urban Development Authority under its OUVGL scheme to settle the pending liabilities of the mills.
Approval to fill up 910 vacancies in the jail department,which included 22 assistant superintendent jail/legal staff,573 warder,62 clerical/technical,63 class IV,49 medical staff. As many as 141 posts will also be filled through promotion quota.
Approval to launch a special campaign to furnish birth and death certificates,caste certificates,besides issuing ration cards to eligible beneficiaries across the state by September 30.
Nod to the grant Rs 1 crore for the Langar of Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar,exemption from registration fee and stamp duty for loan documents to be registered through Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Corporations up to Rs 5 lakh. Similarly,the Cabinet also approved such exemptions for all educational loans up to Rs 5 lakh.
Nod to relax age up to 5 years for recruitment of pharmacists in Zila Parishad dispensaries,besides giving two marks for each year of experience for working in these dispensaries.
