Congress MLA Jassi Khangura has come down heavily on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for spending state money on his security arrangements in the US,where he has gone in connection with the treatment of his wife who is suffering from cancer. “The Punjab CM has every right to procure medical treatment of his wife overseas, but to engage private security at state cost is not acceptable,” he said. Khangura said the Badal family had “more than sufficient resources” to meet the expenses and hence they should not have burdened the state coffers. “Though the indicative charges are approximately Rs 20 lakh, the final bill may be much higher,” he said.
