Huge salary hike for SSG men
Now the personnel of the Special Security Group (SSG) will get the salary and perks at par with those of National Security Guard (NSG),the Punjab government has decided in principle. The personnel in SSG deployed in the close Protection Team and in the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team are likely to get a hike of 50 per cent. The personnel deployed in Advance Security Liaison Team and House Protection Teams may get 30 per cent more. Others posted on normal duty are likely to get 20 per cent extra.
24,000 houses for the poor
Haryana housing minister Satpal Sangwan on Monday said that the government would provide houses to the homeless people under the BPL housing schemes. A budget provision of Rs 359.8 crore has been made during the current financial year. Sangwan said more than 24,000 houses would be constructed out of which,5,520 flats were already under construction.
Treat cancer patients for free: Badal
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday asked the Medical Education and Research Department to chalk out a plan to provide free treatment to the poor patients afflicted with cancer in state. Badal was presiding over 28th governing body meeting of the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences Society. Expressing concern over the plight of poor cancer patients,Badal impressed upon the need to introduce mobile units equipped with latest technical support with special provision of counselling experts to provide early cancer diagnostic service.
Five players appointed as DSPs
The Punjab government on Monday approved the appointment of five gold medal winning players of Asian and Commonwealth Games as Deputy Superintendent of Police rank officers. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,who also holds the charge of Home Affairs and Sports Department,approved the posting.
Punjab set to recruit 225 sports coaches
The Punjab Government has initiated exercise to recruit 225 coaches to give sports a boost at grass roots level. An official spokesman said that the state has invited applications for junior coaches. The aspirants could log on the website of sports department http://www.pbsports.gov.in for the proforma. The last date of submission of applications is August 8,2011.
