Badal calls for probe in Hondh massacre

Chandigarh: Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal on Monday demanded a judicial probe into the killing of Sikhs at Hondh Chillar and also at Pataudi in Haryana in the 1984 Sikh riots. Badal while speaking on the floor of the House during obituary references said,“Union government should order a probe into the Sikh massacre in Hondh Chillar and Pataudi by a sitting judge of the high court. The guilty should be punished.’’ Senior BJP leader and Local Bodies and Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia echoed the same views. Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal paid homage to the innocent people killed during militancy in Punjab,Haryana and J&K.

3 trains cancelled due to Jat protest

Ludhiana: THOUGH Railway minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to the masses to not stop trains,but the plea fell on deaf ears as the Jat Aarakshan Samiti stopped trains on Ferozepur-Bathinda rail track. The members sat on the tracks for about four hours due to which three trains from Ferozepur to Bathinda had to be cancelled. The samiti is demanding reservation for Jats in the OBC list.

Dismissed Punjab Police ASI commits suicide

AMRITSAR: Suba Singh (57),a Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector who was dismissed from service in 1993 following the recovery of gold biscuits from his possession,today committed suicide using his double barrel gun at his residence at Gwal Mandi in the city.
