Subash Negi to head HPSERC
Subash Negi,a 1978-batch retired IAS officer,who was recently re-employed as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) Limited,will be the next Chairman of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPSERC). Negi hails from the tribal district of Kinnaur and earlier worked at various positions,including Principal Secretary (Home,Tribal Development,PWD and Industry). He is among the few successful bureaucrats in the state who are equally favoured by BJP and Congress governments. Negi will replace Yogesh Khanna,the current Chairman of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission,also a former bureaucrat. Khannas term ends in January 2011.
Himachal cops set to get tech-savvy
To enable Himachal police to use latest technology in tracking major inter-state crimes and criminals,the police have launched a dedicated training programme for all police personnel down to the constable level. Labs for training of Crime Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) have been made functional in all districts and the latest one was opened in Shimla recently. Right from basic computer skills to all software and technologies used in crime tracking by police across the country would be imparted to all police personnel through these labs, said Superintendent of Police Shimla,Sonal Agnihotri.
