Boy hit by school bus,dies
JALANDHAR:Two teenagers were hit by a bus when they were going to school on Monday morning. While one of them died on the spot,the other was admitted in hospital in a serious condition. The police have arrested the driver of the bus and impounded the vehicle,the school bus of DPS Public School. The deceased was Vishal Bhatti (16),a student of Class XI at Victoria Model School. The condition of his classmate Lavjeet Sharma,16,is stable,said Jalandhar Cantonment station house officer Rachpal Singh.

Clash averted over control of dera at Chaba
AMRITSAR:A major clash was averted between the followers of Baba Major Singh,the head of a dera near Samadh Baba Naudh Singh,and members of the Ex-Servicemen Human Rights Front led by Colonel (Rtd) G S Sandhu on Monday. The groups confronted each other as Sandhu alleged that Major Singh,who had “questionable credentials”,had forcibly taken over the dera a few months ago as the dera had been without a head for some time. Along with his supporters,Sandhu went to the site on Monday to evict him from the premises. On the other hand,Major said he had court’s orders in his favour and was thus the rightful owner of the dera,situated in Chaba village on the outskirts of the city. Sandhu said the police and civil authorities had assured them of a proper inquiry regarding the legal heir of the dera.
