Bolt from the Blue!

After this, you’d want to feel the blues. You’d want to get up,flush that sorry self pity mode down the drain, collect yourself, paste a before picture and walk up to Hakim Aalim for an after one.

Wanna get gorgeous? Then walk down the Blue Carpet with ace stylist Hakim Aalim in an all-new makeover show

After this, you’d want to feel the blues. You’d want to get up,flush that sorry self pity mode down the drain, collect yourself, paste a before picture and walk up to Hakim Aalim for an after one. Trust us,after this, you’d be singing the blues,“for you’d be an ugly duckling to a swan princess story who’ll walk down our Blue Carpet,” snips ace stylist Hakim Aalim. Giving reality a whole new look and feel is UTV Bindasis’s Sunsilk Blue Carpet which has hairstylist Aalim, costume stylist Imam Siddique along with a host of celebrity judges including Shaimak Davar,Mickey Contractor,Nisha Jamwal,Nina Manuel,Pooja Bedi and Gul Panag, all set to select girls down in the dumps and yank their inner beauty and confident out for the world to see. But why Blue Carpet? “Because red is clichéd and blue is the new colour of youth, confidence and cool quotient. Red is only for Page 3,whereas we’ll make our girls Page 3 divas,” says Aalim as he gets into the nitty gritty of the show. For those who’ve seen Trinny and Suzanne parade, bully and chase women on What Not to Wear,Blue Carpet comes close to it. According to the format, each episode will see one candidate live the change. She’ll be put through a variety of innovative tasks, all designed to escalate her confidence levels. From bartending at a swanky club to performing in a public place,to raking in a minimum of 500 bucks, the show has an exciting line-up of activities and situations that will bring out the best in the participants. “Physical attraction is paramount. There’s no escaping that, one has to look beautiful to be get the eyeballs rolling, but one has to feel beautiful too, which is why we are here,” Aalim’s focus is on shaping a personality, putting the mind over the body. “It’s all about getting a lesson in fashion education. No one’s perfect, but we can camouflage our flaws and look ravishing,” Aalim’s already shot two episodes and he’s had quite a challenge. “We’ve had an overweight girl, and she was in tears! See,we are very strict with our makeover. It’s not a one day Bollywood lookalike show,it’s bringing out the inner beauty, working on the confidence, convincing someone they are and can look gorgeous and following up on their lives.” Girls, says Aalim can be stubborn. There were ego hassles too. “It’s alright for we never get a fashion education in school…we are victims of demonstration effect. We need to find our own beauty and that’s how the show will help,” Aalim, however, was happy that once the ball’s rolling, the girls grasp pretty fast and get addicted to looking and feeling good. “A physical makeover is surgical, getting one is easy. It’s the inside out that’s difficult, and that’s where we make you walk the blue carpet and make you feel sexy,” he says. The show also has a video diary featuring personal feeds recorded by the contestant at private moments through which audiences can get an insight into the power of a makeover to transform someone. At the end of every makeover, there’s a final gratification for the contestant,a realization of something she has always dreamt of. It could be anything, including a date with her favorite superstar or something wild. Wanna walk the blue carpet too?
